On Saturday, June 17, 2023, a tree planting exercise was held in Bayelsa State, Niger Delta. The exercise was organized by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in collaboration with the African Centre for Climate Actions and Rural Development (ACCARD).

The aim of the exercise was to restore the degraded environment of the Niger Delta region and to mitigate the effects of climate change. Over 10,000 trees were planted at various locations in Bayelsa State, including the state capital, Yenagoa.
